The Eclipse Cross has undergone a refresh, receiving a light technological and aesthetic improvement with an improved interior to make it look more enticing.
Styling
The new grille possesses chrome-Dynamic Shield spars that have been reprofiled and made slimmer than before, resting on top of the upper DRL elements. The new Eclipse Cross has neutral, black bars instead of the previous model’s chrome-finished grille element.
The bumper features a revised lower air dam, skid plate, and twin oval headlights, with projector LEDs and self-levelling in the lower section.
The new Eclipse Cross is 140 mm longer than the previous model. The rear hatch of the new Cross has single-piece glass instead of the split windows present in the predecessor. The redesigned taillamps and the new tails now have a 3-dimensional appearance.
In keeping with the previous design, 18-inch alloy wheels have machined spokes and boast a black finish to complete the look.
Space & Interior
The increased size of the Eclipse cross translates into more cabin space. The 437-litre boot can expand to 1 074-litres with the folding of the rear seats.
Up front, electric adjustment for both the driver and passenger seats helps the front passengers get comfortable while the rear passengers still enjoy the same comfort levels.
There are minor changes to the layout, with the centre fascia receiving the bulk of the attention. New switchgear in the centre console complements the redesigned infotainment system setup. The binnacle that used to house the infotainment system has been replaced with a floating screen setup, helping free up some space and making the cabin feel airier.
Comfort & Convenience
The installed infotainment system is Mitsubishi’s SDA, which supports seamless smartphone tethering with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Should your device not support the previously stated tethering options, the device will also support USB and Bluetooth connections.
The Mitsubishi Power Audio system is accurate and precise at all driving speeds.
You can access HVAC controls, vehicle information, and various other vehicle settings from this screen. Heated seats, a multifunctioning steering wheel and rear USB ports enhance the Eclipse Cross’s convenience.
Performance
This mill produces 110 kW and 250 Nm torque, and while the naturally aspirated 2.0 outputs the same power, the torque figure of 198 Nm feels the pinch somewhat.
Fuel Economy
The fuel consumption figures on the combined cycle are 7.7 l/100km for the 1.5 turbo mill.
